    GROCERY SHOPPING!

There's only a few items I really must have: popcorn, nuts, and frozen yogurt. If your cupboard were bare except for 2 items and you only had 1 in the refrigerator/freezer, what would they be?

Fresh Bread and Vegemite in the pantry, and margarine in the fridge, when i was single again this was my daily diet.

    itsmee

    What is Vegemite?
    jhharlan

@Itsmee, it's really nasty, sorry Aussies....
    doolittle

didn't the "I Love Lucy" show have an episode about vegemite?
    jhharlan

No, that was about liquid vitamins....
    bulletman

Itsmee, Vegemite is made trom concentrated yeast extract, it is made by an , American company Kraft Foods Australia, it is a rich source of vitamin B. The Australian Army have it in their combat rations, We think the same for Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwiches, most Aussies would not touch it with a ten foot pole, it sounds revolting, but then again i have not sampled it myself just like most of you with Vegemite.
    lambshank

vegemite is the greatest thing on a sandwich or toast known to man!!
    figtree3

If you keep vegemite for too long, does it get infected?
    bulletman

G'day Fig., i don't have Vegemite long enough, a 400 gram jar lasts just a little over a week. If Vegemite is kept in a warm enviroment too long it may go off, i always keep Vegemite in the fridge as it does get extremely warm at times.
    itsmee

One more question on Vegemite? Is it a good source of vegetables? If so, I really want to try it. But I don’t think I can get it.

    Coffee, sugar, milk.

    Bob/PKB

    Cool. Get the day started!

Provided they are grown in the right kind of soil (iron), potatoes and milk will provide all the nutrients needed to sustain life. So I guess for a third I's say chocolate.............

    Bob/PKB

I like how you are always practical. Who could survive without chocolate! :D

Bob, Impossible to answer for me. I need more than 3 items to live on/

diet soda (for me) cat food (for my best buddy!) and .............hmmm.........let me go check. That's right, coffee.

    itsmee

    With your coffee, I will make an exception: You, dear, may have an extra allotment;
    1/4 # VEGEMIGHT!
    doolittle

    man..I really wnted a donut.
    Bob/PKB

Thanks for your answer, doolittle. YOU remembered your pets. I'll need to trade in the peanuts for generic animal they both can it.

    Beer and chips..

    Bob/PKB

Make mine tortilla chips, and throw in some of my favorite salsa, and I'll join you!
    itsmee

Throw in a Marguerita and I’ll join you. (and vegemite, of course)

Maybe we could all put our heads together and make a plan. It would take more than three items, of course. It would have to lead us to good health. Donuts are not a requirement for healthy living. : )

    ROMOS

Could you get mine while you,re there,we,ll start off with your list which is fine by me,I might add one or two little extras if that,s alright with you,you can deliver as soon as you can, thankyou for your kindness, see you soon...KOTF
    doolittle

but if u r only allowed 3 things... u might as well go hog wild and have donuts! Can I have that one over there? I'll share my coffee or diet soda with u!
    itsmee

A big can of Heinz Pea & ham soup.Bread & butter & Vegemite. Oh....alright.... I can get by without the Vegemite.I only put that in to annoy you Americans.LOL. BTW, Vegemite is owned by an American company now,so get into it you guys.

    jhharlan

I gave it a fair shot (buttered toast and the whole bit...). Sorry, my opinion still stands....
    lambshank

remember, vegemite is to be savored, just a little bit goes a long way, can't spread it thick unless your a real Aussie
    figtree3

Now I must try this vegemite sandwich of yours!
I can't get Men At Work out of my head!!!
I said to the man,"Are you trying to tempt me because I come from the land of plenty." Wow, it took me this long. I can't wait to report!

"Viagra "Viagra ."MY Wife swears by it  and I do what I am "Told.

    itsmee

    lambshank

    dowsa

Lambshank do you think "IRON" tablets will do lol

Ok…2 items, one in a cupboard, one in the freezer….1 100 pound bag of mixed stew vegetables and in the freezer a whole roast ox. Burp!

    itsmee

    ROFL!!!
    itsmee

    Bob/PKB

    Planning ahead! Good thinking!
    figtree3

    Dibs on the tail!

    Too expensive!

    Bob/PKB

The three things you would want to have are too expensive or you don't have three things to eat because.??

Beans and rice (That makes a vegetable and a protein)

Oranges (That would prevent Scurvy ~ whatever Scurvy is. I used to threaten my kids with that disease so they'd drink their Orange juice.

Shoot, that leaves out Calcium. Our teeth would fall out! I think this is an excellent question, Bob. I cannot believe the price of groceries. I need to do something to cut down our expenses. Your method is just a weeeeee bit too drastic.

    PEOPLELOVER

Scurvy is a disease caused by lack of vitamin `C` and scurvy causes your teeth to fall out welts to form on your body and face.
    Not a good look.
    Bob/PKB

You could go with calcium-fortified orange juice?
    itsmee

Yup, Bob. Next week my grocery bill will be very small. My husband will be down the road dining elsewhere so it will be ... just me. heh heh.

    bottle of red wine

    bottle of white wine

    Bob/PKB

    lambshank

    What are snags?
    PEOPLELOVER

Snags are Aussie for sausages Bob, cleaning out the spare room for you.
    doolittle

I like the way you count!!!! Can I come over for dinner??? Please!
    itsmee

doo ~ I must keep you kids in line! From Chain’s pantry, you may have Veggymight & Olive Oil. tsk.
    figtree3

Are they called Snags because of what happens if you carry a string of them loosely?!

I also like the British 'Bangers'!
    PEOPLELOVER

Well Figtree I must confess that I have never pondered the meaning of snags but you could be right.
We also call them mystery bags, for obvious reasons. Your guess is as good as mine as to what`s in them.
In the good old days a snag was a thick sausage, then they started making the thin ones now you can get lots of different types and flavours.
Problem is to-day they have taken the fat out and any good cook can tell you fat is where the flavour is.

A delicious bottle of wine... a nice block of cheese and a good friend to share a good story or two with.

2 minute noodles, coffee and milk....think that's what I mostly eat now, shift works a b..... Oh I just noticed there is no asterisk on my keyboard but I do have a sun moon thing, what do they do ??

    Bob/PKB

Is that the noodles that come with the flavor packets? Top Ramen? Sodium saturated???

Peanuts in the shell and rice in the cupboard and celery or carrots in the fridge.

    Bob/PKB

Sounds pretty substantial and healthy. I especially would enjoy eating the peanuts and letting the shells drop on the bar floor...I mean, oh, never mind!

    all ways bread and marmite

The sun/moon makes it brighter or darker.  The asterisk is above the #8 on mine.

How ‘bout some fruit in your diet?

    You are al welcome......

    itsmee

We are welcome to your food? Why, thank you.

    pooh,it is not fun.

Nutella and tea in the pantry and brussel sprouts in the freezer.

    Bob/PKB

    Brussel sprouts!
