      Even with today's technology, if an asteroid is destined to hit earth, it will.

          It would need to detonate inside the Asteroid.

            you could not divert a asteroid by a remote detonation , the bomb would have to hit the asteroid and explode on impact. providing it was a side impact this would then divert the object.


            the whole issue is subjective as we have neither the time to prepare a carrier the bomb/carrier or the expertise at this time
