Older mothballs were made of Naphthalene, but now they are 1,4 Dihydrobenzene.

Naphthalene is an organic compound with formula C10H8. ... It is best known as the main ingredient of traditional mothballs. ... Although the composition of coal tar varies with the coal from which it is produced, typical coal tar is about 10% ...

I thought they would be moth tissue like the rest of the moth.

What do you have if you have a moth ball in each hand?

    A bloody big moth.

    lambshank

I have lung problems and been told to stay well away from naphthalene (amongst other things)
