A hot dog stand and news stand combo can pay very well. Of course street vending is usually not considered a carrier but I have known several friends who told me they were making in excess of $40,000.00 a year and that was 30 years ago. Street venders are common throughout the world and from what I’ve seen no one was starving.

Todays street venders include touch-up cosmetics and hair blow-out, henna-hands and god knows what’s around the corner. In L.A. Calif you can get anything street side including drugged, raped or robbed in some neighborhoods. There is no gender bias either.
