    Here's a step by step.

    Instructions

    Things You'll Need

    Netflix-ready deviceVideo cablesAudio cables

1Connect the Netflix-ready streaming device to the TV by plugging in the audio and video cables. If your device supports HDMI, then connect the HDMI cable from the device to the TV.

2Turn on the television set and go to the input channel you connected the device to.

3Power on the device or console. Download and install the Netflix app first by going to the device's online store. For example, on the Wii you would go to the "Wii Shop" Channel, search for the keyword "Netflix," and install the free app.

4Go to the device's main menu and open the "Netflix" app or channel. The first time running Netflix, you will have to type in the activation code you receive from the device and enter it at the Netflix website.

5Go to netflix.com/activate to enter the code. Once activated, you can begin watching movies and TV shows. You may need to restart the Netflix app on the Netflix ready streaming device.

6Browse the Netflix library for a title you want to watch. Select the "Play" option to start watching Netflix on your TV.

    Tips & Warnings

The Netflix app may come pre-installed on the device you are using.

Your HDTV may have built-in Internet apps, including the Netflix app. You may want to check on using this method, as it will eliminate the need for an external device.

I tried that with TIVO. So after I decided to not do that I had to send a letter to them to get them off my back…...

    Greetings November 18, 2011
I did receive your note about the $64.75 bill of TIVO to me. There are a few things you may consider.
    1. I only signed up for one month of service and then before the 30 day period was up encountered problems that delayed my use of the TIVO box I bought and satisfactory service was impossible. So I sought to cancel service but my 30 day trial period had lapsed and apparently a 12 month contract was enforce. I did not realize that TIVO had not corrected the problem and I could not get any contact response from tivo. I have been busy and the TIVO unit has been in my garage since I stopped trying to make it useable to no appreciable benefit.
    2. The problems with the TIVO unit I purchased from Blockbuster in Yreka CA. 96097 in the week they were going out of business ,was realized soon after I first made contact with TIVO on line. I had purchased dish satellite service and had a faster service than the telephone service I had locally. This service required an ethernet cable to the modem but the satellite service only provided a single ethernet outlet and my Apple computer required it to be on line so I saw that the TIVO was WIFI enabled too. So to save time and money a bought a WIFI unit from Apple but then I found that the WiFi would not work as a port for more than one terminal at a time and the TIVO unit would not work with it whatsoever. A router was needed so I bought a Net Gear router locally and a WIFI receiver device that could plug into the TIVO unit via the USB port on the TIVO unit. Everything seemed to be working ok and 2 movies were loaded into the TIVO hard drive. Then my internet provider notified that service via internet for my system was suspended as I had downloaded a months worth of service (in the two movies) and that service would return at a reduced rate for a while.
    3. So duing this time period of about ten days I decided to study the TIVO System in more detail as the whole thing is very hard to read and is quite confusing. In my study I found that the TIVO unit I have is suppose to connect to Cable TV or Ethernet and that the system would not fully function without the code cards from the cable TV company locally. So I went to the cable company and bought the two required code cards...but for $100.00 each . They came but would not plug into the slots provided on the TIVO unit I have because the TIVO unit I have was intended to be use on a system that is not available locally. So the system was completely useless to me. I returned the two program cards for a refund without a problem. But the TIVO contract was in the sixth week of service by that time. I'm stuck with a useless TIVO unit that I can't use. The Router and WiFi-UBS plug may be useful to someone else as I didn't keep boxes or receipts on that and I could not get a response from TIVO.
    4. So by this time I had to take a break and get meds from my shrink to calm down and get my blood pressure back under control.
    5. The a few weeks back I was going over my credit card expenses and here is this service contract bill from TIVO. So I called the office in Colorado and the Kid who I talked to, in no uncertain terms explained with demanding finality that I was required to pay for the remaining contract and that I would pay it no matter what. Quite aggressive about his bit sort of like a wild animal with a bone.
    6. I changed my credit card number as you know and sure enough, here you are attempting to collect a debt. I would rather not pay.
