    how does the prologue pepare the audience for the play

    A Prologue in books, movies, plays (etc) gives you information that happened before the play (etc) begins...so you have information on a character's past (etc) this helps set the scene for the book, play movie.  It usually is very helpful in understanding the plot development and character(s) motives.
