This is tru buddy. If for just one day everyone would burn em one the whole world would be a better place for a day. U never hear of anyone gettin high and shootin up a school, or somebody overdosing. Wat u do hear is it helping ppl cope with serious illnesses. Ppl with anxiety disorders so bad no medication knocks a dent in it, they light up and.......... problem solved. Far more useful than hurtful. And like u said, the money the gov could save, and make by selling it legally. Very good point bro

It is addictive and it ruins young brains. Not only that, do you know it stunts human growth and also inhibits sexual performance? It should be banned and all dope smokers should be jailed. In Singapore the Government interns addicts until they are cured. And of course the dealers get the noose.

Yes, when our boys were in high school a judge of the courts came around and gave a talk to the children and parents about cannabis. What I wrote was only some of the things he said. He also gave us all a book he wrote on the subject.

Part of the reason it's not more widely legalized is that it is difficult to test for "high" (like a DUI).
You just know there would be "checkpoints" to nab people and impound their vehicles for being under the influence.

It should be legal for those that have a doctor's prescription for it. Many people say it has helped them with cancer pain, nausea from chemo,depression, arthritis, and many other maladies.

I live in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia, Canada. This article above is common in this part of the world... One more drug dealer shot dead in public.

What recreational pot smokers don't seem to get through their heads is that cannnabis is only the tip of the iceberg. What we really need is that you stop smoking pot... that way innocent people would not get caught in the crossfire... Honest people would not have to worry about putting gas in their car without getting shot or going to the mall or being on vacation in Kelowna. We certainly wouldn't have to open our newspapers and read how hard done by one of the Bacon brothers is or how bad things are in jail. Heck, taxpayers would not have to pay for the Bacon brothers being in jail at all... wouldn't that be nice?

Ed Shellenberg and Chris Mohan would still be alive.

I have an idea... Stop smoking pot.

Legalizing drugs will not make things better... They will just invent new ones... and I can read about someone else's child dying of an ecstacy like drug overdose... 2 last weekend... nice!

I think you have missed the point. The crime wont go away ... the products will change. The only way to stop the problem is by stopping the problem not legalizing drugs.

The only link I know of between pot and illegal drugs is that both have been illegal. Drug dealers tend to diversify their product lines. Other than that, I have not seen an increase of alcohol consumption among pot smokers which is interesting in that during prohibition, drug use was often associated with alcohol use, but pot was used by musicians and was not illegal until 1950s.

You don't live here Robert... These drug dealers sell a lot of products. They do not stick with one... A lot of them own grow houses and also sell, cocaine, ecstacy and any other drug that comes their way.
You don't live where I live.
A freind of mine was picking vegetables in her yard when three grow-op houses were busted at once. She lives in a very nice neighbourhood not the inner city.
It is a very large problem ... far bigger than it was in the 1950s.

The eldest of the Bacon brothers was shot in front of a very popular hotel in a hot vacation spot in broad daylight where families were staying. Rounds of bullets were fired at the vehicle that he was in and three more people were shot as well. The two others are in jail at the moment. One was just convicted along side the father of his ex-girlfreind and grandfather of his child. Nice. The other one is in jail as he was involved in a conspiracy that killed other criminals along with two other innocent people. One of the innocent people was servicing fire places in the apartment building and apartment where the shooting happened. The other innocent person was a young man who was a college student walking down the hallway at the very moment the criminals were breaking the door down to the apartment with the lower level drug dealers lived. It is called the Surrey Six Murders.

I think it schould be available for people with cancer or other pain related illnesses. It is much safer than narcotics. I think the Pharmacutical companies are lobbying against the use of Marijuana. They would loose a great deal of revenue.

In my opinion, weed is a gateway drug. Not for everone of course. The ones that don't eventually go to coke or whatever other garbage is out there, the reason is financial. A gram of coke costs a lot more than a bag of weed. Drugs have killed many too people. The numbers of families destroyed by our drug culture is getting bigger. Heroin nearly killed me physically and emotionally. I was lucky to be able to quit. There is no justification for any legalization of any drugs as far as I'm concerned. The question here is to drum up support for bad behavior. Don't want to go to jail, and be passed around like a bag of potato chips at a football game, don't do dope.

Alcohol ruins many lives. Nicotine ruins more. Marijuana, of course, is a drug. It’s probably better to live drug free.The problem is that people don’t live drug free. We always seem to want something to help us roll with the punches of life. Marijuana is fairly safe. It never makes people mean. A tax on pot would help the United States financially. We wouldn’t have to prosecute people who smoke pot. We wouldn’t have to keep them in our jails.

For people who suffer intractible chronic pain, Marijuana is excellent (For some patients) I never hear much about Marinol. Physicians have a difficult time prescribing it, I guess.

Children are tempted by drugs ~ alcohol, nicotine, marijuana, crack, smack, BOOM! Of course we need to keep the kids away. That’s always a problem. It will continue to be.

@mycatsmom, If US Gov. legalized it, grew it, sold it just like tobaccoo they'd make a killin, especially, if it was premo/killer and it was proven back in 70's, that gasoline could be made from cannabis, it was also published in a magazine called "High Times", according to the publication a gal. of gas at that time would cost about 5 cents/gal., but those behind OPEC, stockholders, etc. lobbied against it because of the financial losses they would suffer.

My grand mother and her friends smoked pot and made Tea and Brownies when I was a child. They all grew it openly in their gardens. The only harm I saw from it was when it was prohibited by law beginning about 1950. Look at all the harm to peoples lives that law has done, what it has cost all of us in its enforced prohibition. It was a cheap alternative to alcohol back then and didn’t produce those drumming headaches that booze did. I can’t help but to wonder if it wasn’t the alcohol industry that was, in any way, responsible for lobbying against mary jane to run out the competition. Of course it could also be the alcohol industries revenge against pot for being so inspirational at political gatherings when women sought the right to vote and bring down the booze industry. Sort of a tit for tat…by the overlords of darkness. HA.
