A colony is a huge army and family and settlement of ants.

To Hector, never seen them moving their eggs. That would be a sight. We had an antique farm as kids. That was interesting. And, I watch them gather up food sometimes. Ants, if not biting me, are "fun" to watch.

There are several definitions of a colony.  A colony is a group of settlers in a distant land under the jurisdiction of their native land.  Also, a community of the same nationality or pursuits, as within a city.  From Websters New World Dictionary.

Years ago at a factory I worked at, in the warm weather we would eat lunch outdoors! We would leave treats for the ants! We enjoyed watching ants  move a Cheeto (snack)  Like a snack marching across the ground! :)
