    A lifetime. Echo, echo, echo...Oh no. I can't echo myself can I?

    More than one's life time

In the animal kingdom it varies widely.  OHHH, I get it you're talking humans. Huh, from 3 days to you never really know them...it depends on you and 'them' and honesty.

Thanks Yvonne, now I can sleep!

You learn something new every day... if you are listening and paying attention.

depends on the person........how open they are; and how open you are with them. Some say you never get to know someone untill you travel with them. But, I guess living with them would be a better way then traveling. Traveling with them is a shorter and easier  method to get to know them ......then living with them.

At least when you just travel with them you know "this won't last a lifetime". haha

sometimes I think never, you think you know them and then out of the blue comes something you never would have expected...sort of adds to the interest of the human spirit

I'll change the wording a little bit:  forever.............

I've known my wife since the age of five. Were both 61. Got married at eighteen. I still don't completely know this woman. Every once in a while she comes out of left field with something off the wall, and I think "where the F*** did that come from".

Good for her...keeps you on your toes, doesn't she?
    ed shank

That she does. I think all women will be a mystery forever.

Since we are humans and always changing, I would like to cast my vote with others and say " a lifetime".

It takes what it takes and you'll know when you know.

Sometimes I think you never really get to know a person completely don't know if a lifetime is enough, you would probably have to live with them to know them even better, but not my choice to do that.

a LIFETIME   IS NOT ENOUGH!  Even after death skeletons may come out

The way I read sawali answer is: people that thought they new a XYZ person learn new things about XYZ after XYZ died...
