not really an answer but worked best for me i changed a small amount of pounds ie 200 into bats and the rest i exchanged locally when in phuket the thai's love sterling and will give over the odds for £10 pound notes but they were not keen on £20's but beware how much you take out of the uk and definately how much you carry whilst out in thailand
