Bob, really? Are you going to get all offended over wallflower after your question telling people that they should post a comment to every question they look at? What the heck is wrong with the term wallflower? Just means you sit and watch and don't join in. If the term don't fit, don't get "offended".

Tommy, for here on akaQA, wallflower simply means one who just sits and watches but does not get involved or answer any questions. Just recently there were two or 3 questions about the number of members here and the few who actually answer the questions and also views to the questions compared to the actual posted answers. I had those recent questions in my head when I answered this. There are a lot of wallflowers here but this does not mean they are known members to us. I can be on at 3:30am my time, see a new question, see that 8 people have viewed it but not answered it even though it may be an easy question to answer. Most of the posting regulars are not here at that time so who are the 8? Wallflowers.

In my estimates more than 90% of all questions are unanswered and continue to jam the traffic on akaQA freeway. i suggested (as part of one of my questions) that "questions that remain unanswered for more than a month" to be automatically removed. My suggestion was not noticed or ignored or not supported. Would review it now and react?

The admin make their own decisions. I have no influence over them. I see a lot of questions on the unanswered side that can be answered still. I do my best answering as many as I can 28,445 answers to date. I remove questions that we simply can not answer. As of yesterday, we had managed to get through all the 2 month old questions and were working on the 3 month old questions but without a lot of help the new questions are beginning to build back up. This forum has volunteers. People answer as they can, when they can. We'll get it done eventually. : )

OK, if you look at the unanswered side, last night we were back down to only the 3month old questions and older. If the forum was to go by your idea, right now there would only be the questions that came in after midnight last night on the unanswered side. Once they get answered, there would be nothing left on the unanswered page. Then what? Everyone just sit around and recycle old questions or reopen old arguments that should just remain closed and forgotten? I'm still answering a lot of questions from the unanswered side. A 2 second Google search and I have an answer. It's not hard. I think you guys are looking for a discussion forum or a social network. This is akaQA a general question and answers webpage that can be visited one time or as many times as needed but there is no requirement for anyone to hang and have daily thought discussions. Complaining about the questions just makes us look small and picky and may keep others from asking questions. No one wants to be made fun of because of a question they asked.

When I ask questions more likely I need opionions from others beside myself. It's nice to hear the hard facts/perspectives ,even at times,as hard as it is for me to hear... regardless answers coming from others are appreciated and usually sound differently (hope I use the word correctly).

So, I dont post questions b/c I'm bored, at times I hope no one found them meaningless. I speak for others, I wouldn't waste my times or others to sit here infront of computer and posting my questions.

It could be the line used to entice visitors. It could be people trying to shock and disgust. It does seem that many of the distance, time, product questions have ended up here by misfortune. It's too bad there are so many UNanswered questions that don't have the "meat" in them that some of us seek. They turn up in much larger numbers. Sometimes I'll post an "I don't know" just to get it off the "front page".

I don't knows are not what the admin want to see. They actually delete the I don't know answers and move the question back to the unanswered side. This is a new task just given to me recently so I will be doing the same so don't waste your time with the I don't know answer. Just leave it and go to the next question that you can answer.

According to me, not "some". Don't bother looking it up, I'll tell you what it is. A wallflower is one who comes to the party and then just stands/sits and watches all the others and doesn't talk or get involved. If this does not fit you, don't worry about it. You're one of the ones who mentions the number of members here and the few that actually post. The rest are wallflowers. There is nothing offensive in the term wallflower to end the description.

No,you are a volunteer. You do not have to do another's research. This is something I tell many people who come here to try and use us. We are general questions and answers only and we do not research.
