Although the news on the whole in this country seems balanced, there are examples of news that showed to be biased. To me, a balanced reporting is fair, impartial, ability of the reporter to remain objective, and unemotional. Biased reporting is reporting with the inclusion of elements contrary to those of balanced reporting. News reporting following 9/11/01, including CBS's Dan Rather crying on TV (although one could argue that he was being interviewed and thus cannot be construed as reporting...Americans still relied on his words), are good examples of biased reporting (definitely understandable) by the media in the U.S. I tried during that period to read articles from many of the European and Asian counterparts to get a more "balanced story". Occasionally even the reporters get so wrapped up emotionally with the news that they cannot remain objective, hence, they're biased.
