My childhood best friend was Laurie.  
Nancee and I were very good friends from 2nd grade through junior college, even shared an apartment sophomore year.  Laurie moved away for college, but she was still my best friend.
Janet was a very good friend junior year college through mid 30's. I had moved away, but Laurie was still my best friend
One would suppose my exhusband was my best friend during my 40's.  But Laurie was really my best friend; we've never had an argument.
Pat's been a very good friend since my 50's.  But Laurie is the one I can turn to for unconditional support.
Throughout all this time, my childhood best friend, Laurie, has remained my best friend, and still is, 55 years later.  She has never let me down, ever.  I am undeserving of such a friend.
