      Probably isn't wise to substitute.  Half & half is richer (it is half cream) than just plain milk......

          Just add some butter to the recipe -like 3/4 cup milk and 1/4 cup melted butter

            Yes, but it'll be more fatty, and thus more calories and might add to you putting on weight, if you're so inclined.
