Remote control

Coaxial antenna
1
Replace the batteries in the remote control that you use to open your garage. The batteries may still be working, but if they're weak, you might be experiencing a shorter range than you should be.
2
Try reprogramming your remote control. Instructions for reprogramming your remote can be found in your manual or by contacting the manufacturer. If you reprogram the remote to work with the opener, you could improve the range.
3
Straighten out the antenna on your remote control if it has one. A straight antenna will transmit a better signal, which leads to an improved range.
4
Have a coaxial antenna installed outside your garage door to use with your remote control. The steel in your garage door might actually be blocking the signal, which decreases the range of the remote. An outside antenna will fix this issue.
5
Make sure nothing else is interfering with the signal. Common items that can have this effect include surge protectors, battery chargers, television cables, cable amplifiers, sprinkler systems and alarm systems. Temporarily disable these and similar items one at a time, and test your remote control. If your signal improves, then the problem is the disabled device.
