    (-8)^6(-8)^7

When you multiply the minus sign by itself six times, the answer is plus.

    (-8)^6  =  +8^6

When you multiply the minus sign by itself seven times, the answer is minus.

    (-8)^7  =  -8^7

When you multiply +8^6 by -8^7, the answer is -8^13
