I am presently using internet explorer for my google email. I have been informed that the new google soon to be permanent will not work because of my use of windows XP -I assume I have less than the required hardware. I like google and would prefer to continue it on my present Dell computer. Can you suggest an easy way for me to do this(limited computer efficiency old fart). Thanks

You will still be able to use the e-mail. You just might have issues viewing things like pictures in ads or e-mails with graphics. If you encounter this, save this link and refer to it. http://www.google.es/support/forum/p/gmail/thread?tid=25217bcebd57589b&hl=en
