      Take the battery out and put it in again. If that doesn't help, you need a new battery. Don't leave the battery in if you're going to leave your flip sitting idle for a year.

        I bet the battery is totally dead and will not accept a charge.  You need to get a new battery.  That have them at Target and many other places too even at Amazon.com or flip.com.
