    Mine sites can be claimed on public land for oil, minerals, energy and other natural resources with few limitations. Recreational sites such as ski areas can be claimed as well. The process involves the 1872 mine laws. Claims can be sold, my gold claim sold for  $50,000.00 some years ago and there are many areas that have not bee searched. My claim also contained titanium that was mineable. Claimed mine sites can be rented to others to mine, leased, or used as a home site while mining. A legal understanding of laws related to such activity on public land is necessary.
