That,s the way, let them work it out. I had to do it mentally and it drove me mental but "I" did it. And I,m still mental.xxxKOTF.
Thanks for the support ROMOS. I had to go to summer school for algebra. It doesn't help them if we do it for them.
{3x-y+13 {2x+y=12
Are they two equations to find the values of x and y as follows:
3x-y=13 ------------ equation (1)
2x+y=12 ------------ equation (2)
If so, this problem can be solved by one of the methods in simultaneous equations. There are basically three methods (Graphical method, Substitution Method and Elemination Method).
Elimination method is easy to solve this problem.
Add the two equations as follows:
(3x - y) + (2x + y) = 13 + 12
3x - y + 2x + y = 25
5x = 25 ( - y + y equals zero )
x = 25 divided by 5 = 5
Now, substitute the value of x in equation (2),
(2 times 5) + y = 12
10 + y = 12
y = 12 - 10 = 2
Therefore, the answer is x = 5 and y = 2
