        A cheque is said be stale when it has not been presented by the payee within the stipulated time set aside by the financial institution .

          The CHQ is out of date a chq must be presented to the bank with in 6 months in the UK but may be different in other parts of the world !

            They call it "stale dated"  instead of the more cumbersome..."Oops, you're too late to get any money out of this deal, honey.  Go to the payer and request a new one."
