Symantec is a quality antivirus program that scans your computer and protects you from potential viruses and spyware. Some people have an email scanner as part of their antivirus package, and sometimes you will get bombarded will tons of pop-ups saying, "Symantec Email Proxy cannot scan your email messages because your network is not properly configured." This can be due to a virus that has infiltrated your computer, or a conflict with the Symantec email protection program. Disabling the outgoing email scanner will stop these pop-ups.
