There are a ton of reasons why a computer wont recognize a disk. If you DVD/ROM player is working with other disks the try putting the disk in another compter and see if it works. Now I run windows 7 on my PC and Lexmark wont work so the operating system that you are using may be a problem. The easiest way to get around the disk, if it's bad, is to go to the manufacturers website and look for drivers and downloads. Odds are you will find and download the install program that works with your printer. Hope this helps
