    A Murder by Crows ?

I,ve just watched 6 crows rip a seagull to shreds for the sake of a piece of toast. Isn,t nature wonderful. Should I have thrown the toast ?

I have about six crows coming by at least three times a day, but only very few birds. One crow swooped down and took a piece of toast right out of a red squirrels mouth, but did not attack the squirrel itself. I have seen a hawk take down a crow in flight and dragged it through the woods into a clearing and ate it there. I have never seen a crow killing any  bird though. I would have freaked out had I seen what you saw. You just did not know, that crows are capable of killing another bird for food. I did not know either until now and I will be careful tfrom now on when the crows are around.

The collective term for a group of crows is a 'murder', as per a 'school' of fish, a 'pod' of whales.

    Interesting.

There's a really good movie out that's called "A Murder of Crows" You should watch it when you have a chance. It's a good mystery.

I would not do it again, your messing around in the dark side then.

    You think?

LOL, are you kidding me?   The seagulls here are huge and I see crows ducking for cover when I've tried to feed them.   That must have been some really good bread.

Well the dark side might be correct, after all crows ARE black. (Darkside, black ah! forget it)

Murdering crows? Perhaps that's where the group name came from....Oooooh, gross..........

Romos ... Sorry you had to be witness to such a sight.

I am acquainted with a man who watched his dog tear up two cats. I've always wondered how he could do that. I've always wondered about "the man"

    Dark side conversation for sure.

    Yes, ROMOS. I agree.
(I've answered this about five times)

We have an abundance of them here.NOISY BUGGERS!.As for what they would be capable of...Nothing would surprise me.They are very smart & cunning.

I like crows and ravens are my favorite. They are quite comedic and friendly to me. They avoid those who harbor ill will for them or other living creatures. I enjoy their antics and only blue jays see them as threatening, sparrows, finch, chickens and pigeons behave respectfully toward crows unless those birds are nesting.  If you feed crows & ravens regularly they will nest near-by.
