    Happy New Year.

    Hogmanay is Scottish New Year.

We used to parade around the streets led by a piper and it was traditional to leave the front door of our house open to welcome all to enter.

First footing as we call it here still goes on,we visit friends homes after midnight with much alchohol, and traditionally a piece of coal,to ensure there is always a warm welcome, although nowadays coals a bit scarce so it,s usually just the drink ( suits me ).You,re right about the doors though, got to keep the nasties out.
