      You write the 2 and then a decimal point.  To figure out how to write 5/8 decimally (which, by the way, is also percentage), divide 5 by 8.   

      5 divided by 8 = .625  (This would round up to 63%)


      2.625  = 2 5/8         (The procedure is to divide the numerator BY the denominator.)
