      Action potentials need walking sticks as they get older.  Tiny Segways would help. And they like to stop and smell the myelin from time to time. Synapses sometimes forget what they are doing and why they are there. It is not uncommon for synapses to get together and form book clubs and drink tea, and at those times, little gets done.
