I assume that the equation is x+4y-4 = 0
When we draw the graph for this equation, y-intercept is the point where the line crosses the y-axis. At this point, the x co-ordinate is zero. Therefore, substituting zero for x in the equation gives us the following:
0+4y-4 = 0
That is, 4y-4 = 0
Therefore, 4y = 4
y= 4/4 = 1
The y-intercept is 1

Is your problem: y = x + 4y -4, And you're looking for the Y intercept?
To solve for ( y ), we'll use ( 0 ) for( x ) To solve for ( x ), we'll use ( 0 ) for ( y )
y = x + 4y = 4 > y = 0 + 4y - 4 y = x + 4y - 4 > 0 = x + 4(0) - 4
-4y -4y + 4 +4
---------------------- ------------------------------
-3y = -4 4 = x > ( 0, 4 )
----- ------
-3 -3
y = 1 1/3 > ( 0, 1 1/3 )
Or, If your equation is like eggplant > x + 4y - 4 = 0
Then to solve for (y), we'll use (0) for (x) To solve for (x), we'll use (0) for (y)
0 + 4y - 4 = 0 x + 4(0) - 4 = 0
+4 +4 +4 +4
------------------------ -----------------------------
4y = 4 x = 4 > (0, 4)
----- -----
4 4
y = 1 > (0, 1)
