The best protection against V.D., S.T.D., and pregnancy is abstinence.
That isn't going to be everyone's choice, so condoms are available in a variety of colors, sizes, and flavors.
Insist that your daughter read up on sexually transmitted diseases, particularly herpes, since it is very common. Just articles at Village Love.com are probably sufficient.....just so she gets a quick study of what's out there and the consequences of contracting any of them. Read with her if she is willing to share that time. You'd be amazed......
Condoms are the best protection against diseases, as far as I know. Be thankful she is being upfront about this with you. It would be wonderful to have her wait for marriage.... I don't see that happening.....

mamama, I'd bet that your 18 year old daughter already know about condoms. No need to embarrass her and you. However, you might want to tell her that you wish she'd wait until she were married or engaged but if she's going to be sexually active to be responsible about it and use condoms and another form of birth control as well just to be safe.

18 years old? Where you keeping this kid in a closet? Had my wife asked her father the same question, she would not have been able to practice safe sex. He would have killed her.
