A pronoun is a generic word that substitutes for a proper noun.  Instead of saying something like,
"Bob is walking Bob's dog this morning.  After Bob return's from the walk, Bob will shower and eat breakfast.  Bob likes to read the newspaper before Bob leaves for work. Bob's assignment is "new accounts" at the Lookalu Casino."  (you get the idea)
