You first have to change 9% into a decimal. Just put two zeros in front of 9. > 009 > starting at the left, count two places over to the right. You will have 0.09.
So, 9% = 0.09 > multiply 10,000 * 0.09
The answer is 900
Note: Adding two zeros is only for single digit %s. You can see it better this way. If you wanted to know 12% or 125% of 10,000, then you would have changed 12% into .12 , 125% into 1.25 > just start at the left, and move two places to the right.
