24/6-4
Order of operations
1. calculations must be done from left to right
2. calculations in brackets ( parenthesis ) are done first. If there are more than one set of brackets, do the inner brackets first.
3. exponents ( e.i. 7^2 ) is next
4. multiplication & division in the order the operation occur.
5. add & subtract in the order the operation occur.
So, 24/6-2 = 24/6 = 4
4 - 2 = 2 your answer is 2

Chelleanne has given you what I think is correct, too. Multipication and division are done before adding and subtracting; adding takes precedence over subtraction; multipication takes precedence over division.
Your problem, step-by-step: 24/6 - 2 = 6 - 2 = 4
If the problem had been stated: 24-6/2, the answer would be 24 - 3 = 21 (The division would be done before the subtraction)
If the problem had been stated: 24 - 6(2), the answer would be 24 - 12 = 12 (The multiplication taking precedence over the subtraction).
If the problem had been stated: 24 + 6/2, the answer would be 24 + 3 = 27
And, if the problem had been stated: 24 + 6(2), the answer would be 24 + 12 = 36.
Brackets look like this: [ ]; parenthesis are ( ).
