Is it hearing loss or do you just need to remove some ear wax . Before I settled for hearing loss I would get a ear cleaning kit and clean my ears . After that its Doctor time and that's it .

Yes, at the age of about 40 I noticed my hearing was getting worse, and it had never been good, even as a child. My left was worse than my right, by a little, I could tell, and testing proved it to be so.  Was told by two different Audiologists that this was was early genetic hearing loss and would progressively get worse which it has. He likened the hearing loss to wading into the ocean, it's not so bad early on but at some point the water level becomes critical, and it does. That's when you need help with it.  And it's so hard when you still have to work full-time, for many years to come, and have to work with many people and you cannot hear s***,  and then you get left out of SO many conversations and you start to feel isolated,  just because you cannot hear normally and most people don't understand and don't repeat for you because it's inconvenient for them, even though your input may be vitally important..  And WHY do insurance companies refuse to help us with hearing aid devices?!!? They act like hearing all that is around you, including others peoples voices, communication, is not important. They help with glasses, orthodontics, prosthetics...........It's all about money and we get the shaft. Be checked out.  I wear Lyric hearing devices, which are really invisible to the eye, wear for 2 to 3 months at a time, never take them out in-between replacements, and have a small hand-held remote to adjust volume.  I like all those features but you PAY for them, and your hearing is still far from perfect. But they help.  I take out an FSA account at my work with enough money to pay for one years "lease" of the Lyric. Over 3000.00 dollars a year. The only way I can afford it, and even then I can't...............Wish you the best of luck!!

It is common.  You need to make an appointment with an audiologist though, to find out what is going on.

YES it is usual for deafness in one ear BUT also listen to bluesman!
