My dad was in a union.. (dont know if that is the same thing). When he passed we found out hat he had opted for a larger monthly payment instead of smaller payment that would continue after his death.. It was his choice. So no union benifits for mom... But she will recieve a portion of his SS. Also they did gift her 200 dollars for barrial cost.

I currently am retired from Teamsters and I carry their insurance to date. When my wife reaches the age of 65, teamsters will only supplement her insurance as well as mine.. like AARP does.
If your talking about retirement benefits, she should still receive his, unless they signed an agreement that she would not receive any benefits after his passing. This may be the case, as some people will receive more payroll benefits when doing so. It is not a wise thing to do. Social Security is just a supplement for retirement benefits. People really can't make it on SS alone unless they really planned ahead. I don't believe Teamsters really ever had a good retirement plan. It didn't effect me on my retirement, as I was working for a City Government (PERS Plan)
