Sound problem on Toshiba Satellite L675

I purchased a Toshiba Satellite L675 laptop, running Windows 7-64 bit, and noticed that when I play music, it sounds like there is no bass - sound is very tin-ney.. I have tried updating both the Intel & Audiotek audio drivers, from Microsoft and Toshiba, but the sound remains the same. Both driver updates said I had the most current drivers; plus the hardware check said the cards are working properly. The sound stays the same whether playing via internal speakers, external speakers, and/or ear pods. I have even tried playing from the DVD/CD drive, however - and again - the sound remains the same.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Ed

Additional comments ... when running sounds (eg. notification sounds, like the "pulling your fingers down a keyboard") the sound is PERFECT!!! why when playing music it don't get a crisp, clear sound. Instead it sounds almost mono, with no bass, and down a tunnel.

I do not have money to pay for an answer. I wasn't expecting someone to charge me to find out this information, so as you can tell, this is my first question ever to akaqa.com

    Thanks again, Ed.

If you're having trouble with the sound on your Toshiba laptop, there are only a few things you can try before you need to send your Toshiba off for repair. Most of the minor sound problems can be fixed with these steps. This article will help you learn how to troubleshoot sound problems with Toshiba laptops.

In case you haven't already done  so, try the following:

    Instructions

    1
Open the sound panel in Windows. In the lower right hand corner, look for a round icon that looks like an uncovered speaker. Double click on this. Turn the sound all the way up and ensure that the Mute box is unchecked. Check the sound and see if it works. If not, proceed to Step 2.

    2
    Click "Start."
    Click "Control Panel."
    Double click "System."
    Click "Hardware."
Open the device manager, then double click on "Sound, Video and Game Controllers." Right click "Audio Codecs," and click "Properties." If working properly, it will say so. If not, log onto the Toshiba website and re-download the driver.
Contact Toshiba technical support for more information on this, as drivers and procedures vary based on your model.

Plug your headphones into the headphone jack and check the sound that way. If there is sound on the headphones, then you probably have a speaker problem, and you will need to send the computer off for repair.

Is your laptop still under warranty? Sounds like one on the wires to your internal speaker may be shorted out. You need tech help for that.
