Hi tabber, good question.   I think that from learning of the past it helps us to improve the now and the future.

I like history. We learn from it.

IT IS IMPORTANT to have a good general idea of ancient history without being scholarly because you learn certain lessons from it- good and bad. Avoid the bad and improve on the good ones for now and the future.  However i strongly believe one should change according to time. Aceepting whatever happend 2-3000years ago or B.C.or AD will not work in today`s time. so being dogmatic or fundamentalist in beliefs will not work today. God has given humans capacity to learn and improve.
