      I know this isn't the advice that you are seeking.  I've been on this forum for about six months and Magic Jack phones are the only phones  people complain about. If the pocket book allows, then buy a new phone.

        Even if they do let you get to call out.. your call will probably be dropped. Sign up for Skype. You can send instant messages and have video or voice calls for free between contacts on your list who also have Skype nationwide.
