eggplant thank you but When I posted this question I did it twice didn't think I got it right the first time, and Daren asked my questio with what seemed like a google answer as I had already looked it up - but I saw Sister Wendy who always gives a story behind religious paintings and their meanings - and the bloke with her asked what it meant and apart from the end of what Daren has - she said it means "Do unto others as you would have done unto yourselve* Google never mentioned this but it seems to fit what he was doing with this wolve and the people of Gubbio.
