... for me it was the year I won 2nd prize for my witches costume that my mom made entirely out of black crepe paper - and she made it on her sewing machine!. The contest was held at the yearly bonfire and hot apple cider slurp in the park at the end of our block. I was so proud. I was about 10 - so that was {{ahem}} 60 years ago, and I can still feel and hear the crispy rustle of the costume against my legs.

My son wanted to be a mummy, I took white long johns, and wash ;em in tea bags to make them look old, then ripped a white sheet in 3 inch strips and wrapped him from head to toe. It was a blast.  He would give me a challenge every year. I like being creative, this was by far the most fun.

Thank you for your story! One year we decided my husband would be Superman. I spent so much time sewing his cape that at the last minute I was forced to come up with something quick for myslef, so I wrapped myself in strips of a torn-up sheet and went as a mummy. I got more attention than he did, which just goes to show that sometimes spontaneous creativity can be the most fun!

It's so much fun, and you have great memories. Inventing/Creating is always the best!
