What is the difference between LED and LCD tv's?

The only difference is the back light. Both use the traditional LCD screen, but LED tvs use led"s for the back light where LCDs use fluorescent lighting. The smaller size of led lights can mean the tv may be thinner. LED tvs may also seem to have a brighter/sharper picture.

I looked this up.  LED may not exist in the television world and then again the information may not be correct.
