I'm sure they do. My dog sometimes sleeps with his eyes open and I used to sleep with my eyes open all the time.

I often catch my cat (Worthless) staring into space....He just has to be sleeping......

I had a lovely cat who was shaped like a pear with ears and a tail.  His eyes were the same size (I went to the vet to make sure he was 'all good' in this department) but his eye sockets were not and he had eyeliner around one eye which added to the optical illusion.  That eye that appeared bigger also slept open.  That lovely cat snored as well.  He also spent two percent of his day looking at the world upside down.  I am not making this up.  Big old fat cat.  I just loved him.

yes they can sleep with their eyes open they also have a 2nd lid some people call it the third lid
