    What is the difference between a Rifle and a Carbine is there any

    It's always been my understanding that carbines were shorter barreled in nature.

    That is something I've always accepted as the main difference between them. Good question though...I'll have to go look it up!

    I was right, but the dictionary also includes the characteristics of a carbine to include it being lightweight, and gas-operated. (I guess they don't know Winchester and Marlin have been marketing lever-action carbines for well over a century!)
