We had a question similar to this recently.  IF the fame were a positive thing (like in NOT being a convicted mass murderer whose trial had been televised around the world), the fame could help in providing a solid cash flow, making the famous attractive.  It has always been a dream of mine to "star" in a movie.  I think I could handle roles that Kathy Bates gets.  Maybe even Dana Delaney stuff, too.  Being a successful author, artist, musician....I'd go for that.
If the money is tax free, it is hard to pass up, but the fame (under the right conditions) is a better long-term choice for me.
