This is a great question Itsmee.  I was powerless because it was coming from all angles...it only took one instigator to get the ball rolling.  It's amazing how this type of thing can manifest.  It began with one small comment about judgement.  This person observed and judged almost everyone in her path and one day I made a small comment that she didn't like and she went to town with me in her cross hairs.  She turned the nicest people into truly nasty souls.

I must say it was interesting to watch.  A social experiment.   I can say that now.

When I quit that job I sat at my kitchen table for one entire month just staring out the window at the trees.  It was as if I had just come home from a war.  I am sure coming home from a war is far worse...nevertheless, I was traumatized.

In the end it turned out to be one of the best things to ever happen to me.  I think maybe I was being told something from up above.

I know I would have never become pregnant if I had stayed at that job because of stress and long hours.  I would never had begun working full time at what I love to do.

You just never know what tomorrow will bring.

    F.G. Interesting comment!
I think you had Post Traumatic Stress. Did you ever get a diagnosis?
It would be so great if you could get back at them some way ... like a law suit.
You had mentioned something about your pregnancy before but I didn't understand. God had a message for you. Yes, I think so.
    How old is your son?

PS.Who's bullying you? How could anybody bully someone with a face like that? Love it.Good luck Itsmee!

    itsmee

ty! I think I should glue that hat on. : )

My first impulse is to say stand up to them. But I realize that's harder for some people than others & it has nothing to do with courage.I have never been bullied,Oh it's been tried, unsuccessfully but that's a whole nuther story.

You hear stories about it every day it seems on  the media so the people with the power to stop it must know about it.So my advice would be appeal to the people with power.Whether it be employer, department chief, union delegate, school principal or whatever. It should be nipped in the bud.

If all else fails,go to the media. They love these stories of bullying.

    I like your answer.

There are statistics about how much power a letter has. I don't know if an e-mail carries the same power. With a letter, a CC at the end means you are sending copies of the letter to other people. Of course multiple e-mails can be sent.

If that doesn't work, call in the press!

I know what it's like to be bullied. I just wonder if the akaqa people can put their heads together and come up with some answers.

Bullies are very insecure people. They feel secure only, if they can put someone else down.. Dont respond to theire insults. You know who you are and hold your head up high.

My approach always worked for me as a kid, get ready mentally to get your ass beat. Get nose to nose with your problem and throw the first punch, hopefully it drops them. If not it's your ass that's going down. But either way the nonsense will stop. At work, I was management mostly. You don't bully the boss. Piss me off and your out the door.

    itsmee

Yep, management is a safe place to be. You a good boss?
Your scrapper story seems almost seem like regular kid stuff. I see freckles and baseball caps worn backwards.

I think I was a fair boss. Do your job and I shined like a star. Screw up and my ass was on the line. I fired very few people thru the years.

The only thing you can do is realize why someone is giving away their energy to you. It's simple...they are threatened by you in some way.Somewhere in their small mind, you intimidate them so by bullying you, they unknowingly are only bringing you down to the level they feel themselves. a good shrug of the shoulder and keep walking is the only way to deal with it. Obviously you ROCK!!!

In the 8th grade a girl didn't believe that what was under my blouse was truly my own. She backed me up in the girls' restroom and reached down the front of my blouse to check. Her buddies were behind her cheering her on. (She was 9th Grade)
I had not stuffed Kleenex down there.
Many many years later I went to my brother-in-law's funeral. That bad girl was grown up. I knew it was her because she had a big name tag on.
If not for the name tag, I wouldn't have recognized her. She looked maybe fifteen years older than her true age. I'm not sure what disease she had but I can tell you, I didn't feel sorry for her.
I don't even know if she remembered what she had done all those years ago.

mom, you gave a psychologist's answer. The girl I spoke about was threatened by me, I'm sure. I did walk away from the scene but I didn't feel ok about it until I saw her on the day of my brother-in-law's funeral.

I'm asking about it now because it's sooo much in the news. I worry about my grand daughters. They're sweet little people ages 6,4,& 2. I want to be prepared ... I just want to know. You know?
    mom

I'm sorry you endured that. I also understand the worry you have for your grandchildren as I have kids of my own I think about as well. The only thing I can do is instill a string self esteem and knowing how great they are.

It's difficult to believe someone would be bullying you in any way.
Bullies come in all shapes and sizes; he/she isn't always big and burly.  It's creepy when the most petite and sweet little thing in class intimidates.

Any confrontation of the issues by you needs to be done with witnesses.  When a remark or threat is made and nobody hears it, you can raise your voice slightly and say, "Did you just threaten me by saying .........." .  You want people to hear you question what was just said. Make sure you are matter of fact and just a little incredulous that someone would say anything like that!

NEVER NEVER NEVER be alone with that person.

If all else fails, make an appointment with your supervisor and explain that you feel intimidated by the other person.  Do not accuse that person of being a bully.  Present it as a problem YOU are having with this person's "tone" or "attitude" or "sense of humor".  YOU want help getting along better with that person.  Make NO accusation (can't stress this enough).
If your boss has a brain in his head, he'll get what's really going on.

I am not bullied now. I had a little of it in highschool. Enough.

There's so much of it now or else we just hear about it more.

Yes, it's good that you said don't make accusations. You don't want it to be in a "She said. She said" thing. That would not be a good position to be in with a bully.

Thank you, itsmee. I had a couple of incidents during school times, too. My son actually got beat up in the boys' gym in high school (as did a couple of his friends). The consequences for those bullies wasn't much; of course, THEY were on the varsity basketball team.
What a world it would be if people would just "do unto others".

WELL AT SCHOOL IM ACTUALLY GOING BACK IN FORTH TO THE OFFICE BECAUSE OF A BULLY THATS NOT MY PROBLEM AND WHAT I DONT GET IS MY FRIEND PUT ME AS THE WITNESS WHEN I TOLD HER I DIDNT WANT TO BE IN THIS MESS . AND NOW BECAUSE OF HER MY BEST FRIEND THAT IVE BEEN FRIENDS WITH SINCE 3RD GRADE IS IN ISS WICH IS IN SCHOOL SESPENSION SO THATS HOW MY DAY WENT.

    itsmee

I'm confused. Is it right that your friend (from the third grade) is in suspension?
