      I had my bare metal stent  in August 2003 and so far, so good.

        My son is a heart specialist. He told me that it is not known how long stents will last as they had been in only for five years at the time he told me. Now three years have passed since our talk, and I don't know if things  have changed. So it would be better to ask your doctor.
