My screen turns white and my icons vanish

I am getting very frustrated, not knowing much about computers,but often when I log in, the screen goes completely blank, no icons at all, I am currently turning it off and start again, though this is often unnsuccessful and often takes several several times doing this, also am unable to restore th spellcheck, any ideas?

Since you know little about computers, everything I can offer you will not know how to do. Your computer needs to be cleaned out and have programs run to find all the issues. Spend the $70 and have a computer tech come out to your house. Try 1-800-GeekSquad / 1-800-433-5778

I know your right, the more I "try and fix it" the worse I make it, might drop it off on my way to work, so won't be here for a couple of days..ugh just thought, we have a smart guy at work, Ill take it in and see if he can fix the mess Ive made

It sucks but unless you can understand programs and all the different ones out there, you're just like a car owner who looks at a car engine and none of it means anything. They call a mechanic. What I can offer you would take hours to complete if you know what you're doing. ;)
