      I am not sure this is not a good idea - sounds too pungent and strong to me. Washing - up liquid or hand washing liquid with a soft brush or as Darci says. I you can afford it a sonic jewellery cleaner is the thing - then you can chuck everything in perhaps not pearls some even do spectacles and CD's. Look on the Auction channel No.23 and 37 Freeview Bid TV or Price Drop TV. They are so cheap here UK that is.

        I do not think I would try it I would buy the proper cleaning solution for gold.
