Heat is the result of some kind of binding or alignment issues . Next it is transmitted by contacting with other hot parts . After confirming that you do indeed have the correct belt ,then the hunt for the source of the heat is next. Look for any friction points ,make sure the exhaust is not contributing in some way to the heat . Now for the bad news : If you have internal engine problems (bad bearings ) the heat from this is leaving the motor by way of the crankshaft ,to the pulley to the belt and then it breaks. With out the belt on run the motor and use a meat thermometer to check the crank temp after the motor is shut off . Hope the solution for this is simple and cheap ,Good Luck !!!
