How fresh are we talking here?  Alive or cooked?

In general a fresh meat is best kept in deep in the fridge for only a few days. If it changes color or if it smells bad you better not eat it. Here’s a list of meats and the time they can generally stay fresh in the fridge before going bad: Chicken & Fish & shellfish & Stew meats – up to two days, Bacon & Hot Dogs – up to one week, Steak – up to five days.
