 some say to face them head on but, I don't know if that's such a good idea...

My phobia is rats...I can live with this.  Some are much worse...I have a friend who won't go over bridges and another who is afraid of elevators.  I know a lot of people who are insanely phobic about spiders...one man to the point,,, well honestly I should not have laughed...I just didn't expect the reaction...I saved that man in the end!

There are such things as Panic Rooms here in the UK - no idea where they are - a TV program where the phobic person is presented with their phobia i.e. spiders in stages until they finally loose the fear. Treated the same way for other phobias e.g. outside ones.

Getting free from ones irrational fear can be costly. No psychiatrist does psychotherapy pro bono, and it takes several sessions to at least lower the fear a little. I hope this helps.
